Unstable molecules the wearer’s cornea

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:13 pm

Unstable molecules are a piece of fictional technology featured in Marvel Comics. They exist as a configuration of unknown atomic nuclei and electrons that are responsive to certain energized matter around them. Developed by Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic of the Fantastic Four), unstable molecules are typically utilized in fabrics for superhero or supervillain costumes, allowing the fabric to conform with the wearer’s form and to not succumb to the wearer’s powers. For example, as Mr. Fantastic stretches, his costume stretches with him instead of tearing. The same goes for his teammates: the Invisible Woman’s costume goes invisible when she does and the Human Torch’s costume doesn’t burn when he activates his powers. Essentially, it acts as an extension of the wearer’s skin.

History

Unstable molecules are not generally employed by heroes other than the Fantastic Four, whose day-to-day clothes are treated with them to allow for use of their powers in situations that do not require their uniforms, although Mr. Fantastic has, on rare occasion, gifted fellow superheros with a costume of the material (most notably the X-Men and Henry Pym). The formula has occasionally been stolen by supervillains such as the Mad Thinker (who used it to create Awesome Andy), as well. It was also swiped by Chord Industries, the company owned by Night Thrasher. Reed Richards allowed Thrasher’s team, the New Warriors to keep the costumes they had, so they could fight crime more effectively. The Power Pack had costumes made of unstable molecules manufactured by them by the Kymellian smartship Friday, though the ship had no malicious intent and may not have known about the Fantastic Four.

The molecules also had a downside. The Trapster once defeated Reed Richards through the use of a white powder which rendered unstable molecules inert, thereby preventing Reed’s suit from stretching with him.

Although a potentially lucrative commercial enterprise, unstable molecules are deemed too dangerous for use by the public in general - when a fashion designer procured a small sample of unstable-molecule fabric and attempted to have the process reverse engineered, the “lock” kept on the molecules by Mr. Fantastic was undone, unleashing their instability, which spread to neighbouring molecules in a chain reaction that dissolved surrounding matter, including humans. The reaction was thankfully contained by the Invisible Woman.

To a certain extent the phrase has become a source of humour regarding the pseudo scientific explanations that arose during the Silver Age of Comics.

Trivia

  • The name was also used in the name of , an Eisner Award-winning miniseries published by Marvel in 2004, and written by James Sturm with artwork by Guy Davis.
  • Unstable molecules have become a common material by the time of the Marvel 2099 line of comics, to the extent that Miguel O’Hara, Spider-Man 2099, had a Day of the Dead costume made of them.
  • Slapstick has a body composed of living unstable molecules dubbed Electroplasm. Similarly, Morph of the Exiles once said his body is made of Unstable Molecules.

Open position of a contact

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:07 pm

In couples dancing, open position refers to positions in which partners are connected primarily at the hands as opposed to closer body contact, as in closed position. The connection is through the hands, wrists, and fingers, and relies heavily on frame and the compression and tension of both partners’ arms.

Many forms of dancing utilize the open position. Swing (East Coast, West Coast, Lindy Hop), and Latin are primary examples, but an open position is used in waltz, country, and other styles at times.

Matte box Lens

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:20 pm

A matte box is a camera accessory that essentially does the same thing as a lens hood and also mounts in front of the lens, but usually includes adjustable fins called French flags. These can be moved and adjusted to reduce lens glare.

Another purpose of a matte box is to hold glass or plastic filters in place in front of the lens. Today, matte boxes are made for DV cameras and HD cameras for the same reasons as a film camera. Some are supported by two rods that run the length of the camera, while others are supported by the lens itself.

Theophilus ben Ananus Explained detailed article

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:32 pm

Theophilus was the High Priest in the Second Temple in Jerusalem from 37 to 41 C.E. according to Josephus’s Antiquities of the Jews. He was a member of one of the wealthiest and most influential Jewish families in Iudaea Province during the first century. According to some Christian traditions he was possibly the person to whom the Gospel of Luke is addressed.

Theophilus was the son of Annas and the brother of Eleazar, Jonathan, Matthias and Ananus, all of whom served as High Priests. He was also the brother-in-law of Joseph Caiaphas, the High Priest before whom Jesus appeared. In addition his son Matthias served as the next to the last High Priest before the destruction of the Temple by the Romans.

Archeological evidence confirms the existence of Theophilus the High Priest as an ossuary has been discovered bearing the inscription, Johanna granddaughter of Theophilus, the High Priest. The details of this ossuary have been published in the Israel Exploration Journal. Therefore Theophilus had at least one other son named Jonathan, father to Johanna.

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:52 pm

A NIC handle (Network Information Centre handle) is a unique alpha-numeric character sequence that represents an entry in the databases maintained by Network Information Centres. When a new domain name is registered with a domain name registrar, a NIC handle is assigned by the registrar to the particular set of information associated with that domain name (such as who registered it and a contact e-mail address). Once a domain name has been registered, its NIC handle can be used to search for that record in the database.

Bicorn curve

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:02 am

The bicorn is also known as a cocked hat curve, due to its resemblance to a bicorne. It is a curve with equation

<math>y^2(a^2-x^2)=(x^2+2ay-a^2)^2 \,</math>

with two cusps, symmetrical around the y-axis.

The bicorn is a plane algebraic curve of degree four and genus zero. It has two cusp singularities in the real plane, and a double point in the complex projective plane at x=0, z=0 . If we move x=0 and z=0 to the origin substituting and perform an imaginary rotation on x bu substituting ix/z for x and 1/z for y in the bicorn curve, we obtain

<math>(x^2-2az+a^2z^2)^2 = x^2+a^2z^2.\,</math>

This curve, a limaçon, has an ordinary double point at the origin, and two nodes in the complex plane, at x = ± i and z=1.
